Glen Raven, Performance Textiles Unveil Hi-Vis FR, Arc-flash-resistant Mesh Fabric

Glen Raven, N.C.-based Glen Raven Technical Fabrics and Greensboro, N.C.-based Performance Textiles Inc. have partnered to introduce GlenGuard® Hi-Vis mesh safety fabric with flame resistance (FR) and arc-flash resistance. Performance Textiles will market the domestically produced fabric for use in safety vests that will be cooler and more comfortable than conventional vests but will provide protection to the wearer in sectors including electric and gas utilities, highway construction, industrial, and transportation, among other sectors.

"Glen Raven shares our commitment to creating innovative safety apparel fabrics that make the workplace less hazardous," said Willis Campbell, vice president, Performance Textiles. "Together we will introduce a unique mesh fabric that meets all safety criteria plus allows airflow so it is cooler and more comfortable for workers."

The luminescent yellow/green fabric complies with the ANSI/ISEA 107 standard for reflectivity and conspicuity, ASTM F 1506 standard for FR and the NFTA 70E standard for arc flash protection with a 5.1 arc thermal performance value.
