Phifer Offers SheerWeave® Style 2000 With Microban®

Tuscaloosa, Ala.-based Phifer Inc., a manufacturer of insect and solar screening, outdoor fabrics and engineered products, now offers its SheerWeave® Style 2000 vinyl-coated fiberglass interior sun control fabric series with Microban® antimicrobial protection permanently infused during the manufacturing process to stop the growth of mold, mildew and stain-causing bacteria. The company reports it is the first and only window covering manufacturer to offer Microban technology in its products.

Microban technology, offered by Huntersville, N.C.-based Microban International Ltd., works by penetrating a microbe's cell wall, interfering with and disabling primary cell functions and preventing the microbe from growing or reproducing. There are no known instances of resistant strain development in the 30-plus years since the original technology was introduced.

SheerWeave fabrics with Microban protection are lead-free and certified according to the third-party Greenguard and Greenguard Children and Schools standards for environmental safety and indoor air quality.
