Union City, Calif.-based Orcon Corp. -- a manufacturer of seaming tape for aerospace and carpet applications -- is opening a plant in Douglas, Ga., that primarily will manufacture carpet seaming tape. Operations will be established in an existing 45,000-square-foot warehouse in Coffee County, with production expected to begin by March. Orcon reports the expansion will create at least 50 direct jobs within the plant's first 12 months of operation. The company expects to start hiring by the end of February.
