During the IDEA10 International Engineered Fabrics Conference and Exposition, held April 27-29 at
the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Fla., the Cary, N.C.-based Association of the
Nonwoven Fabrics Industry (INDA) presented its Entrepreneurial Achievement Award to Fi-Tech Inc., a
Richmond, Va.-based textile equipment and components distributor. In 2009, Fi-Tech formed a joint
venture company with Uwe Gaedike and purchased Oerlikon Enka Tecnica GmbH

. The new company, Germany-based Enka Tecnica GmbH, produces spinnerets, meltblown die tips
and spunlace jet strips for man-made-fiber and nonwovens machinery as well as micro components for
other markets.
In other news, INDA in partnership with Nonwovens Industry magazine presented the IDEA10
Achievement Awards during the exhibition. Given every three years, the awards recognize innovation
in nonwovens and engineered fabrics across five categories. The winners include:
Machinery/Equipment Achievement Award: ITW Dynatec for its Vector™ Modular Metering Platform;
Fibers/Raw Materials Achievement Award: Bostik for its Relyance™ Adhesive; Roll Goods Achievement
Award: Polymer Group Inc. (PGI) for its Spinlace nonwovens technology; Short-Life Converted Product
Achievement Award: Henkel/Dial for its Purex® Complete 3-in-1™ Laundry Sheets; and Long-Life
Converted Product Achievement Award: DuPont for its Nomex® KD hot gas filtration technology.
