The Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer's Association International (BIFMA), Grand Rapids, Mich., and NSF International, Ann Arbor, Mich., have established Product Category Rules (PCRs) for the furniture industry in an effort to provide science-based verification of environmental product claims and eliminate greenwashing. PCRs define how to conduct a lifecycle assessment for a particular product group and specify what to include in the resulting report.
