Hong Kong 2012 Update: Final Speakers Now Confirmed

LIVERPOOL, United Kingdom — October 4, 2012 — The final speakers for the International Cotton Association’s (ICA) ‘Hong Kong 2012’ trade event have now been confirmed, completing the event’s two day programme. Four more presenters will take to the stage, joining the seven speakers already announced.

Mr C K Chow, Chairman of Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Limited, will discuss ‘The changing economy & its impact on global markets’. Speaking ahead of his presentation, Mr Chow says “This is the first time in its 170 year history the ICA is holding its annual trade event outside its home country, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong is pleased to have the honour of hosting this important event in our city. I look forward to meeting guests from many overseas countries and participating in the thought provoking discussions on the issues impacting the global financial, commodities and textile sectors”.

Khalid Tiwana (Levi Strauss Global Trading Company Limited); David Hasanat (VIYELLATEX group in Bangladesh) and Richard Pollard (Ecom Cotton Group) will take part in a session entitled ‘Supply chain working together’. The session will be moderated by David Rosenberg (Ecom) and will focus on how relationships in supply chains are changing.

Speaking ahead of the session, David Rosenberg says "The cotton industry is changing and relationships in supply chains are changing. There is more attention to how products are made - from farm to finished goods - which requires coordination. Markets are more volatile than ever before, which means that procurement and risk management strategies need more collaboration and exchange of information in supply chains. What do brands, mills and merchants see as new ways of working in cotton supply chains?

“In this session we will explore with executives from Levi Strauss, VIYELLATEX and Ecom the trends that are driving changes in their businesses and the new strategies they are pursuing to work together differently in the supply chain."

The full programme is now available at www.ica-hk.org.

Hong Kong 2012 takes place on 1 & 2 November in the 'Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre'. It is set to be the ICA's biggest event yet. More than 950+ have already registered for the event, including some of the industry's top names and, with registration due to close on 12 October, the message from the ICA is "book now to avoid disappointment."
