Thwing-Albert Updates 10-inch JDC Precision Cutters
West Berlin, N.J.-based materials testing instrument manufacturer Thwing-Albert Instrument Co. has
updated its JDC Precision Cutter 10-inch models to feature a 20-inch-long base for increased
leverage, stability and operator safety.
The JDC Precision Cutter is used for preparing test samples of nonwovens, tissue, paper, paperboard, plastic films and metal foils, among other materials. It uses the positive cutting action of dual blades and a precision ground base shear to cut both sides of a sample simultaneously, resulting in accurately cut test strips. The cutter meets a ±0.001 tolerance level, Thwing-Albert reports, and is especially suitable for preparing samples for tensile testing.
The 10-inch-long JDC models feature a cutting length of 10 inches and blade widths from 0.125 inch to 3 inches. Optional cutter accessories include a safety shield kit, as well as a platform kit, which enables the cutting surface to be adjusted from 12 inches to 14.5 inches, depending on the setup required.
