Freudenberg Nonwovens To Expand Evolon® Production Capacity
Construction on the new production line — which will increase capacity to 3,000 metric tons annually — has begun and is expected to be completed at the end of October 2013. The line will enable an increased range of product combinations to be created via separate hydroentanglement.
"Once the new production line is complete, we will be able to combine various base materials and create completely new products in one step through hydroentanglement," said Ulrich Jahn, Ph.D., Colmar plant manager.
Evolon is a spunlaced, bicomponent nonwoven fabric that combines good textile and mechanical properties. The patented fabric is soft, drapable and light like traditional microfiber, but also is strong, quick-drying, breathable and absorbent; and offers good barrier and filtration properties. Applications include high-tech wipes, packaging, automotive, printing media, coating substrates, window treatments, bedding and apparel.
