SDC Announces New Associate Parliamentary Group For Textile Manufacturing
The SDC will be involved in the new Group in a secretariat role and is very keen for its members and others from industry to engage with the Group in a series of meetings and events. The Associate Parliamentary Group for Textile Manufacturing has growing and impressive support from more than 37 members of the Commons and Lords. The full list will appear on a Government website shortly, but includes local Bradford MPs such as David Ward (the key driver in getting the Group underway), George Galloway and Gerry Sutcliffe. It is very encouraging also to have the support of Lord Simon Haskel, Lord Ken Woolmer and Lord David Steel. Related Parliamentary Groups have been informed to avoid duplication and ensure benefit to UK manufacturing as a whole.
"This development enables the textile industry to really engage with Government to strengthen activity on both sides" said Graham Clayton, "and I am very pleased the SDC can be an active and central part in this initiative, involving our members and many others from around the UK".
