Covington To Acquire Rapier-Cambridge Mills

Covington Industries Inc., New York City, has entered into an agreement to purchase substantially all of the assets of Rapier-Cambridge Mills Inc., High Point, N.C.Rapier-Cambridge produces woven fabrics for the furniture and home furnishings industries.According to Covington, Rapier-Cambridge will form the core of a new division combining its product and the non-contract product line of Covingtons Fame Fabrics division.Bob Ellsweig, president of Rapier-Cambridge will head the new division. Ellsweigs son Erick will serve as the divisions vice president.The new division will maintain sales, administration and design offices in both High Point and New York City, and will operate independently and alongside the other Covington Industries divisions, Covington Fabrics, Spectrum Fabrics and Tasco Manufacturing.
