Synthetic Industries Adds Seventh Extrusion Line
Synthetic Industries (SI), Chattanooga, Tenn., recently added a seventh staple fiber extrusion line
at its Chickamauga, Ga., facility. The line is capable of converting 45 million pounds of
polypropylene per year, the company said.
The line consists of machines built by Fare Corp., Italy. It is 300 feet long and produces an 800+ pound bale every eight minutes.
According to the company, the majority of fiber produced by SI is consumed in the making of its own engineered fabrics such as geotextiles, Softbac carpet backing and yarn.
