Lurgi Zimmer To Build Polyester Plant In Iran
Lurgi Zimmer AG, Germany, has announced it has secured an order from Iran for the construction of a
polyester plant in the Petrochemical Special Economic Zone in Bandar Imam, Iran, on the Persian
Gulf.According to the company, the investor is National Petrochemical Co., (NPC) and the investment
volume is approximately DM 300 million. The plant is designed to produce 352,000 t/a granulate for
textile applications and 60,000 t/a granulate for PET bottles from the raw materials terephtalic
acid (TPA) and ethylene glycol (EG). This is based on Zimmers continuous polycondensation process.
NPC intends to supply the domestic market and to export part of the products.This confirms out
market leadership in the field of plants for polymer technology, said Winfried J. Krr, chairman of
Lurgi Zimmers executive board.
