Cotton Incorporated Elects Chairman, Reports On Denim

Cotton Incorporated, New York City, announced that its board of directors has elected Jim Hansen as chairman. Hansen is the owner and operator of Hansen Ranches, Corcoran, Calif.

The company also announced the election of S. Louie Perry Jr. as treasurer; N. Wiley Murphy as committee chairman, global product marketing; and Donna B. Winters as committee chairman, consumer marketing.

In other news, Cotton Incorporated reported that denim casualwear showed modest gains for the first nine months of 1999. According to consumer data furnished by NPD Group, unit sales of men’s denim bottomswear rose 3.3 percent to 219 million during the first nine months of 1999. Women’s denim bottomwear increased 5.9 percent to 244 million units in the first nine months of 1999 (For more on Cotton Incorporated, see “From The Ground Up” in this issue).
