Cotton Incorporated OKs Use Of Seal On Organic Cotton

Cotton Incorporated, New York City, has agreed to permit use of its Seal of Cotton and associated trademarks on upland cotton fabrics and end products marketed as organic. Previously, the organization had recognized only products containing conventionally grown cotton. The agreement was a result of ongoing efforts by the Organic Trade Association (OTA), Greenfield, Mass., to gain equitable recognition of organic commodities through the U.S. Department of Agricultures Research and Promotion Programs.Sources of and products containing organic cotton are listed in OTAs Organic Fiber Directory, which also contains listings and contact information for companies handling organic flax, hemp and wool, including growers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers.
