Lee National Denim Day To Raise Breast Cancer Awareness

On Friday, October 5, the Lee Company, Merriam, Kan., will sponsor Lee National Denim Day® to benefit breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs. Organizers hope to raise $7.5 million to support these initiatives.Actress Lucy Liu, who appears in Charlies Angels and Ally McBeal, will serve as spokesperson for Lee National Denim Day. Liu credits early detection and removal of a lump in her breast with saving her from a potentially life-threatening situation.Businesses and organizations can participate in the fundraiser by allowing employees to wear denim to work in exchange for a $5 donation to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds research and community programs, including education and screening. The foundation also maintains a website, which is located at: www.breastcancerinfo.com.Companies and organizations interested in participating in Lee National Denim Day may register by calling (800) 521-5533, or visiting: www.denimday.com.
