European Nonwovens Production Shows Significant Growth

The Belgium-based European Disposables and Nonwovens Association (EDANA) has released figures showing that European nonwovens production grew by 12.7 percent in 2000 to reach 1,025,900 metric tons. European nonwovens production has risen continually each year, starting at 200,000 metric tons in 1983.The value of the European nonwovens industry is put at approximately EUR 4,100 million (US $3,521 million).Nonwovens growth for the United States and Japan in 2000 was reported at 4 percent and 1.6 percent, respectively.
