DuPont Applies For New Fiber Generic Expands Cordura Line

Wilmington, Del.-based DuPont Apparel and Textile Sciences (ATS) has applied for and received preliminary approval from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission for a new fiber generic for its Type 400 (T-400) elastic fiber. T-400 adds performance benefits such as dimensional stability, easy care and chlorine resistance to the stretch and recovery properties of the elastic fiber. The fiber is targeted for use in woven blend fabrics such as denim and shirtings.T-400 is a significant milestone for us at DuPont, and we are pleased to introduce a new class of fibers under the Lycra® umbrella, said Steve McCracken, group vice president and general manager of DuPont ATS. This is the first product innovation that aligns with our commitment to focusing on brand promise when we think about how to grow our business.DuPont has also introduced an expanded line of Cordura® qualified yarns with deniers ranging from 30 to 2,000.
