New Fibers From Unifi Expand Performance Yarn Family

Unifi Inc., Greensboro, N.C., has introduced A.M.Y., an anti-microbial yarn; and Insulyte, a hollow-fiber yarn. A.M.Y., a dyeable yarn available in a range of sizes, is suitable for activewear and fabrics that may come into contact with the skin. Antimicrobial properties are engineered directly into the yarn, providing permanent odor-control and bacterial-fighting capabilities.Insulyte offers improved thermal properties to Unifis existing polyester and nylon products. Its hollow center acts as a heat-transfer barrier and also provides increased bulk and cover without increasing fabric weight. Insulyte is well-suited for activewear and outdoor fabrics, according to Unifi.
