French Firm Launches Novel Nonwovens Line

FRENCH FIRM LAUNCHES NOVEL NONWOVENS LINEA 3-year development program and a "huge R and D investment" has led to the launch of a new nonwovens web-forming technology from the French group NSC.The AirWeb machine continues the technology path already used in the firms Isoweb lines (cards-crosslapper-drafter), using a web-forming principle based on "the judicious control of a high air flow which permits the optimization of the output and efficiently concentrates a pre-determined fiber mass."The machine is intended for the production of webs or fiber batts ranging from 35 to 150 g/sq m, according to the firm. Target end-use areas have not yet been disclosed, but a demo AirWeb unit is due to start running at the NCS-Thibeau site in Northern France shortly.October 2001
