Greenwood Mills Seeks To Sell Plants

Greenwood MillsSeeks To Sell PlantsGreenwood Mills, Greenwood, S.C., is hoping to sell two of its mills through the services of Equity Partners Inc., a Maryland-based firm specializing in the sale of manufacturers in financial distress.Kenn Mann, Equity Partners, said the sale of Greenwood is an outstanding opportunity for investors to enter the market with brand-name customers, well below the normal start-up cost.In spite of the exodus of U.S. mills, Greenwood Mills will survive due to its flexibility to make what the customer wants, the way he wants it, and service before, during and after the sale. The management and employees needed to operate these two plants bring decades of experience. It is our hope that these plants can be sold to someone who will resume operations. The two facilities for sale, in Greenwood and Liberty, S.C., employed 700 people and produced greige fabric and denim.March 2002
