Honeywell Nylon Plant Wins CRI Safety Award

Morris Township, N.J.-based Honeywells nylon-producing plant in Chesterfield, Va., was rated the safest in its class through the Dalton, Ga.-based Carpet and Rug Institutes (CRIs) 32nd annual Safety and Health Statistical Report. The report ranked 238 facilities from CRIs manufacturing member companies classified into five groups based on size. The Chesterfield plant led the class of facilities having more than 1,000 employees because of its low recordable incidence rate based on a formula using data on work-related injuries and illness it provided to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).The Chesterfield plant, operated by Honeywell Nylon, produces bulked continuous filament nylon and nylon chip used in its Anso® residential nylon brand and other nylon for the carpet industry. Annual production totals 150 million pounds of nylon fiber and chip.
