UPS To Provide Logistical Solutions To Burlington

UPS Supply Chain Solutions, Alpharetta, Ga., has been contracted by Greensboro-based Burlington Industries Inc. to manage logistics needs for Burlington's new business model.

"By utilizing UPS extensive infrastructure of facilities, people, systems and expertise, we are able to move our business to the next level and immediately connect our developing network of global partner mills to provide a seamless transfer of goods for our customers," said George W. Henderson III, chairman and CEO, Burlington.

UPS also will manage the company's domestic transportation. Burlington is phasing out its own trucking operations and its Burlington, N.C.-based transportation division offices, and is assisting the approximately 130 division employees affected by the phase-out in finding new employment .
