Inspection System Offered For Web Applications

Wintriss Engineering Corp., San Diego, has introduced Alert Ranger, a low-cost, single-camera web inspection system that provides high resolution and reliable detection without the features required for more complex web inspection applications. The system relies on the Wintriss Opsis® 5,150-pixel line-scan camera, which scans the web at rates of up to 150,000 lines per second. When the system detects defects, it alerts the operator and marks the defect position using an optional marking system. The company said the Alert Ranger, with a starting price of $20,000, is ideal for non-patterned narrow web applications; but, depending on the defect size and web speed, it also can be used for wider webs.
