Nordson Offers Lamination, Elastic Attachment Device

The Summit II lamination and elastic attachment applicator available from Nordson Corp.'s Nonwovens Systems Group, Dawsonville, Ga., can reduce adhesive consumption in high-speed applications, according to the company.

When used for elastic attachment, Nordson claims the Summit II process improves creep resistance on products such as leg cuffs, diapers, training pants and adult incontinence products. During lamination processes, the applicator produces a crossing pattern by using four radially tangential air jets to oscillate single adhesive fibers. Low density, large fiber patterns, open patterns or highly dense fine-fiber patterns in fiber sizes ranging from 50 to 100 microns are possible. Substrate distortion is avoided by non-contact adhesive dispensing.

Nordson's Summit II elastic-attachment applicator oscillates a dedicated adhesive fiber, wrapping it around the elastic strand.
