Saint-Gobain Owens Corning Build Joint Facility

The reinforcement branch of Saint-Gobain, France, and the Composite Solutions Division of Owens Corning, Toledo, Ohio, announced they are jointly developing a glass reinforcement facility in Mexico. The plant will be located adjacent to Saint-Gobain Vetrotex Americas reinforcement facility in Tlaxcala. Construction work for the site began in August, and production and delivery are planned for late 2004.The 50/50 joint venture will produce roving products for a broad range of end-user markets. Dick Lantz, president, Owens Corning Composite Solutions, said locating the new facility in Mexico allows the company to cost-effectively meet the needs of customers in the Americas.
