Royal Ten Cate To Purchase Southern Mills

The Netherlands-based Royal Ten Cate NV has issued a letter of intent to acquire Southern Mills Inc., Union City, Ga., one of the largest privately held companies in the state. Under the proposed deal, Southern Mills will retain its current name and location. Exact terms were not disclosed.

"This acquisition is just another step in advancing Royal Ten Cate's commitment to growing in the field of personal protection textiles technology," said Loek de Vries, chairman of the executive board, Royal Ten Cate. According to David Clarke, group director, Royal Ten Cate USA Inc., Doug Ellis, current Southern Mills chairman, will join the Board of Directors of Royal Ten Cate USA.
