European Spinners To Manufacture Dri-release® Fibers

Optimer Performance Fibers, Wilmington, Del., has signed licensing agreements with Portugal-based Tearfil S.A. and Turkey-based Topkapi Iplik AS. Both spinners will incorporate Optimer's dri-release® moisture-transport technology into their product lines.

dri-release is patented technology that provides moisture-absorbing and quick-drying properties using a microblend of natural and man-made fibers. FreshGuard®, an odor-eliminating component, also is incorporated into the yarns.

Tearfil will use dri-release technology in premium yarn blends with lyocell, modal, Supima® cotton and linen. Tearfil will develop a dri-release fabric line featuring its yarns in cooperation with its partner mill LMA, also based in Portugal.

Topkapi Iplik specializes in high-quality ring-spun and vortex-spun cotton and organic cotton yarns. The company is currently building its fourth facility, which will increase its capacity to 100,000 spindles.

"The addition of Topkapi will allow the growing number of Turkish mills and apparel manufacturers, as well as our European customers, ease and shorter lead times in acquiring dri-release yarn and fabric," said Karen Deniz, vice president, marketing, Optimer.
