Easy Care Program Accredits Spinners Expands To US

After an intensive audit, the Woolmark Co., Australia, has accredited six international spinning companies Zegna Baruffa Lane Borgosesia, the Grignasco Group, Lanerossi Filati, Filatura e Tessitura di Tollegno and Biella Yarn by Sudwolle, all based in Italy; and Austria-based Schoeller GmbH & Co. KG's Spinning Group for the production of Total Easy Care merino wool.

The accreditation program was introduced by Woolmark two years ago in order to ensure the quality and reliability of machine-wash tumble-dry and machine-washable garments. The company plans to extend the program to knitters and garment makers.

The company also plans to extend the program to the United States, where it is expected to launch Total Easy Care wool to retail stores in Autumn 2005. US spinners will also have the opportunity to earn Woolmark accreditation to certify product performance.
