Copolyester Film Replaces PVC In Incontinence Pads

Summit, N.J.-based Precision Custom Coatings LLC has introduced a new barrier film that contains a proprietary grade of Ticona Riteflex® copolyester elastomer for use in reusable incontinence pads for nursing homes. The new barrier film replaces the traditional polyvinyl chloride barrier layer.

According to Ticona, a business division of Germany-based Celanese AG, pads made with the new film barrier are 25 percent lighter and up to 20 percent thinner, allowing more pads to be washed at one time. In addition, Riteflex copolyester films contain no plasticizer, so the pads retain their suppleness through multiple washing cycles.
