Dorlastan Spins Off Monofilament Business

As part of its ongoing restructuring of its man-made fibers business, Lanxess Deutschland GmbH, Germany, has spun off the monofilament business of its Dorlastan Fibers & Monofil GmbH subsidiary to become an independent company, now known as Perlon-Monofil GmbH. The Dorlastan spandex fibers business has been renamed Dorlastan Fibers GmbH and remains part of Lanxess's Fibers business unit. Perlon-Monofil, which produces polyamide and polyester monofilament, now operates under the Semi-Crystalline Products business unit. The two businesses were separated because they offer different products, and serve different customers and markets, which are developing in different ways, according to Lanxess.

Jorg Hellwig, managing director, Dorlastan Fibers & Monofil, will transfer to the Lanxess AG Corporate Center to become head of procurement beginning in 2006. Michael W. Muller will replace Hellwig as managing director of Dorlastan Fibers. Frank Winkes has been named managing director, Perlon-Monofil.
