Innovations From Rieter Enable Increased Production, Improved Quality

Switzerland-based Rieter Spun Yarn Systems has introduced short-staple fiber spinning innovations that are designed to increase production rates and improve yarn quality.

According to Rieter, the compact, energy-efficient CLEANline blowroom offers an output of 1,200 kilograms per hour. Fine cleaning takes place in the card chute using CLEANfeed at several positions, each of which processes lower volumes of fiber, thereby reducing stress on the fibers. Other components contributing to improved yarn quality include the UNIfloc A 11 bale opener, UNIclean B 12 precleaner, VARIOset control system, UNImix B 75 blending machine and UNIstore A 78 feed and storage system.

The OMEGAlap E 35 lap winder processes short- and medium-staple cotton using new winding technology. Sliver guidance and lap compression are extended almost completely around the lap at winding speeds of 180 meters per minute (m/min) without affecting lap quality. Rieter reports one Omegalap E 35 winder will process the output of seven Rieter E 65 or E 75 combers, for a total of more than 10,000 kilograms of combed sliver per day.

Improving on productivity of earlier BT models, Rieter’s BT 923 rotor-spinning machine features a new design with 360 spinning positions per machine and rotor speeds of up to 110,000 revolutions per minute. Other upgrades include a winding device that enables delivery speeds of up to 200 m/min, and a 230-millimeter pitch that allows the use of up to 18-inch sliver cans.
