Material World New York Builds On Success Of 2005 Show

Material World hosts, building on the success of the global sourcing, fabric, trim and trend show’s inaugural New York City event in September 2005, are promoting the 2006 event as the city’s number-one fall exhibition for the sewn products industry.

Material World New York’s second edition, scheduled to take place September 26-28 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, is expected to present some 400 exhibiting companies from 22 countries in 80,000 square feet of exhibit space. The show, an official event of the Arlington, Va.-based American Apparel and Footwear Association, is produced and managed by Atlanta-based Urban Expositions. The annual event is staged in alternation with Material World Miami Beach, which takes place each year in the spring.

Exhibitors from outside the United States will be grouped within regional and country pavilions including Africa, Bangladesh, China, Colombia India, Japan, Korea, Mexico Morocco, Pakistan, Peru, Taiwan and Thailand. The Africa and Taiwan pavilion organizers also have scheduled special educational programs.

The African and Taiwanese programs are part of a full schedule of seminars and other presentations covering such topics as product lifecycle management; customs, port security, sourcing and other trade-related issues; color and fashion trends and forecasting; and issues related to the designer business.

Urban Expositions has named Carlstadt, N.J.-based Pantone Inc. as Material World’s official color partner. The color systems and communication technology provider will work with Material World Creative Director Kevin Knaus to develop the Trend Pavilion’s theme and color forecast, and the Autumn/Winter 2007-2008 color direction. Pantone also will present its Pantone View Colour Planner for Fall/Winter 2007 at Material World New York.

The exhibition also will include a Home Furnishings Fabric Providers showcase to present products for bed, bath, linen, upholstery and other home furnishings applications from mills, converters, and trim and leather producers. In conjunction with this showcase, Cary, N.C.-based Cotton Incorporated will present its home fashion colors and fabrics forecast for 2008.
