BISFA Issues New Standards

The Brussels-based International Bureau for the Standardization of Man-Made Fibers (BISFA) has issued two new standards for textured filament yarns and polyester staple fibers. The standards, which are updated versions of standards first published 18 years ago, were established to aid companies in producing fibers of high and consistent quality and to act as an objective basis on which to judge disputes about technical characteristics of fibers supplied to customers.

The new standards cover such criteria as fiber length, tensile properties, twist, crimp contraction, hot air shrinkage, boiling water shrinkage, finish level, spin finish, linear density, commercial mass, intermingling, sampling, statistical process control parameters and terminology.
