Purista® Supports UNEP Eco-Tips For Jeans Campaign

The Purista® brand of Norwalk, Conn.-based specialty chemicals supplier Arch Chemicals Inc. is supporting Eco-Tips for Jeans, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) campaign to encourage young people to reduce energy usage and moderate climate change.

According to the company, clothing treated with Purista anti-odor, antimicrobial textile finish requires less laundering than conventional clothing, thereby helping consumers to reduce their ecological footprint.

UNEP’s campaign recommends that consumers wear their jeans at least three times before laundering, use cold water, air-dry their jeans and not press them. UNEP estimates that these measures will result in a five-fold reduction in energy use related to washing frequency.
