Tullahoma Moves Production To Eton UPS System

Tullahoma, Tenn.-based Tullahoma Industries LLC, a manufacturer of commercial thermal underwear, and chemical protective apparel and other apparel for the US military, has moved production of one of its military programs from traditional sewing and assembly lines to Alpharetta, Ga.-based Eton Systems Inc.’s unit production system (UPS).

Tullahoma is utilizing Eton’s UPS at its Brilliant, Ala., plant to manufacture the US Army’s Generation III uniform trousers made with two-layer Gore-Tex® fabric, which provides protection in cold, wet conditions. The switch to Eton’s system not only has solved manufacturing challenges but also has enabled a  productivity increase of 15 to 20 percent in less than three months. Tullahoma plans to increase production volume for the trousers by 50 percent in the upcoming months.
