FTC Establishes Triexta As Generic PTT Fiber Subclass
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has established "triexta" as a new generic fiber subclass name
for polyester fibers made from polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT) and given it a new definition
within the existing definition of "polyester."
The new subclass was established after the FTC heard public comments in response to a petition filed by Mohawk Industries Inc., Calhoun, Ga., makers of SmartStrand ® carpet made with PTT; DuPont, Wilmington, Del., makers of Sorona ® PTT polymers; and Canada-based PTT Poly Canada, makers of Corterra ® PTT polymers.
