Clemson University To Receive Funding For Textile Research

Clemson, S.C.-based Clemson University has received a nearly $5 million appropriations package in the fiscal year 2010 federal budget to fund ongoing projects in critical research areas that will have a direct economic impact on the state of South Carolina.

As part of the package, Clemson will receive $350,000 to support research and development, undergraduate and graduate education, and technology transfer at the university for polymers, fibers and textiles research that will affect national security and first-responder protection and help build a foundation for the development of new, niche-focused companies in South Carolina. Rep. J. Gresham Barrett, R-S.C., and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., secured funding for the project.
