Karl Mayer Denim System Integrates Clariant Technology
Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH, Germany, has revamped its Indig-O-Matic modular warp yarn
preparation system for denim weaving to integrate Switzerland-based Clariant International Ltd.'s
Pad/Sizing-Ox dyeing technology that is part of its Advanced Denim dyeing concept.
The Advanced Denim process enables reduction of the number of boxes used in conventional dyeing from 12 to one and cuts water usage by up to 92 percent, energy usage by up to 30 percent and cotton waste by up to 87 percent compared with conventional slasher dyeing processes. The concept is based on Clariant's Denim-Ox process that integrates Diresul® RDT pre-reduced sulfur dyes including Diresul RDT Indicolors. Pad/Sizing-Ox uses the same dyes plus Clariant's Arkofil® DEN-FIX sizing agent; and can be used together with various denim weaving and finishing processes.
Indig-O-Matic combines traditional and eco-optimized processing, is suitable for small runs and enables quick changes as required. Features include the Vario Double modular dyeing machine suitable for conventional, nitrogen or reactor dyeing; steamer; quick oxidation unit and wash trough; KAMCOS® control system; automatic chemical dispensing and measuring; and automatic beam changing between processes.
