MAUPIN, Ore. — November 9, 2022 — NATIVA™, a proud brand of the Paris-based Chargeurs Group, has partnered with Shaniko Wool Co. to showcase their new joint regenerative wool program at the 2022 Textile Exchange Conference.
This event, which celebrates Textile Exchange’s 20th anniversary promoting sustainable textile production and farming practices around the world, will be held November 14-18, 2022, at The Broadmoor Event Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Teams from both Chargeurs and Shaniko Wool Co. will be on hand to introduce NATIVA™Regen-Shaniko wool, which is produced on the Shaniko Wool Co.’s regenerative farming ranches in the American West.
Shaniko Wool Co. is a Bronze Sponsor of the conference and Jeanne Carver, the company’s founder and president, is a presenter at the Conference’s Animal Fibers Round Table summit on Monday, Novemver 14, from 1 to 6 pm MST. She is also a speaker on Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 2 to 3:15 PM MST at a round table discussion titled Biodiversity: Finding Common Ground.
The Textile Exchange 2022 Conference marks the official presentation of The NATIVA™Regen-Shaniko Program, the first third-party certified regenerative wool grown in the USA.
NATIVA™Regen-Shaniko is a product of the NATIVA™ Regenerative Agriculture Program, which has been designed to support the land, livestock, biodiversity and local communities through the implementation of a robust system based on scientific research. These multidisciplinary efforts also result in greater water quality and increased CO2 capturing levels.
Shaniko Wool Co. is the only North American provider of Merino/Rambouillet wool certified under the Textile Exchange third-party audited, global Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). In addition, the NATIVA™ Regen program is backed by Blockchain technology and is fully traceable from farm to end product.
In August, Chargeurs and Shaniko Wool Co. signed an exclusive partnership agreement for the joint development of a more sustainable sourcing system for wool that considers the present and future of animals, people and planet.
“Beyond the treatment of the soil and the environment, we are especially proud of the social aspect of the project,” said Federico Paullier, CEO of Chargeurs Luxury Fibers. “Brands are investing in the development of people working at farm level and their surrounding communities. It’s a holistic project that aims to positively impact farms and rural communities around the globe.”
The Shaniko Wool Co. currently includes 9 ranches covering over 2 million acres of land in the American West. Other US sheep ranchers have applied to become part of the RWS-certified Shaniko Wool Co. farm group.
NATIVA™Regen-Shaniko is also the only wool grown in North America that is certified under the RWS at both farm and mill levels. Chargeurs’ US wool scouring mill in Jamestown, S.C., earned RWS certification in 2022.
The partnership between Chargeurs’ NATIVA™ brand and Shaniko Wool Co. represents a major event in the world of regenerative wool farming that has vast potential for apparel brands looking for best-quality, fully traceable, regenerative wool grown in the USA with an authentic sustainability story.
