SYFA Fall 2016 Meeting — “Diverse Elements Of The U.S. Supply Chain … Leaders In Action”

The last ever Synthetic Yarn and "Fiber" Association (SYFA) Fall Conference took place September 29-30, 2016, at the Sheraton Charlotte Airport Hotel in Charlotte. During the meeting, association President Roger Crossfield announced that the SYFA board voted in favor of a name change. Going forward, the organization will be known as the Synthetic Yarn and "Fabrics" Association, and therefore will continue to be known by the same SYFA acronym. According to SYFA, " The new name reflects the expanded supply chain and broadens the reach of the membership base to appeal to a wider audience beyond fibers and yarns." The next SYFA conference will be held Spring 2017. As always, attendees heard from 10 speakers on a variety of topics as shown in the photo gallery.

Kronthal-Sacco's keynote presentation was entitled "Pure Renewable Resources: Helping Make Products For a Sustainable Future."

The title of Theyson's presentation was "The Death of Research in the Chemical and Fiber Industry: What We Can Do About It."
John Bray, CEO of Vanguard Furniture Co. Inc.
Bray's presentation focused on focused on furniture manufacturers, and was titled "Success Themes, Challenges and the Future of Domestic Upholstered Furniture Manufacturing."
Textile Technologist Carole Winterhalter with the US Army Natick Soldier Research, discussed the hot topic of the Revolutionary Fibers and Textiles Manufacturing Innovation Institute

Loui Redmann came to speak to SYFA meeting attendees from the lifestyle brand Volcom LLC where he is the product development manager
Redmann's presentation was entitled "Where Do We Go From Here? The Customer's Request."
Marty Moran, CEO, Buhler Quality Yarns Corp., gave conference attendees some insight into Buhler and the branded producs the company produces.
