Carolina Narrow Fabric Recruits For Apprenticeship Program

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — March 20, 2019 — Local textile manufacturer Carolina Narrow Fabric is recruiting applicants for its brand-new apprenticeship program, which will train technicians for the textile industry and provide them with fast-paced career advancement opportunities.

The apprenticeship program was launched in conjunction with the Piedmont Triad Regional Workforce Development Board, which strives to ensure that the local workforce development system is market-driven. Designed to develop highly skilled technicians prepared for careers in textiles, this program includes two years of focused training, including mentorship by Carolina Narrow Fabric’s experienced technicians, on-site skills training and off-site instruction at top training facilities. Participants will have opportunities to demonstrate their progress and achieve higher compensation as their skills advance.

Rick Adelman, operations consultant for Carolina Narrow Fabric, said: “You have people coming into manufacturing jobs at entry level positions and working 10 to 12 years to get to the same pay level that members of this apprenticeship program can reach after just two years of intensive training.”

The program will create career opportunities and advanced training for many whose circumstances prevent them from pursuing higher education at universities or technical colleges. A training effort like this not only benefits the company, but will also have a positive impact on the local community, adding well-paying jobs in the area.

Participants will be chosen from a pool of candidates selected by both Carolina Narrow Fabric and the Piedmont Triad Regional Workforce Development Board. Recruiting efforts have already begun and the program is open to both current employees and new hires. Because participants may be entering the program at different levels of previous experience, the training period and skills accumulation will be customized according to each individual’s situation.

Adelman said: “For employees that are a part of a training program like this, you typically see higher retention rates and higher work satisfaction. We believe this program will make a real difference to our company and to everyone who participates. It’s a great opportunity for growth.”
