PARIS — March 18, 2019 — Saertex has announced a strategic partnership with the internationally operating manufacturer of resins, gelcoats, adhesives and specialty polymers Scott Bader for the production and distribution of its Saertex LEO system.
At JEC World 2019, a cooperation agreement was signed between both companies. It aims at combining the performance capabilities of both partner companies for applications that meet the highest fire protection requirements and further developing the LEO system. To this end, the sales and support teams of Saertex and Scott Bader work closely together and can provide their customers on the world market with high-quality consultancy and fast availability of fire-protection-relevant materials for the production of composites.
A cooperation on highly promising conditions: As a specialist, Saertex manufactures reinforcement materials made of glass, carbon and aramid fibers. The Saertex LEO system is the product range within the Saertex product program for applications providing the highest level of fire protection and consists of multiaxial non-crimp fabrics and core materials as well as a specifically designed resin system (not filled and halogen-free) and an easy-to-process gelcoat for fulfilling the highest fire protection requirements such as EN 45545 in the field of rail vehicles, EN13501 in the field of construction or the IMO FTP Codes in the field of shipbuilding.
The resin system within the modular LEO system is now delivered by Scott Bader with immediate effect and further developed together with Saertex.
Steven Bakker, director industry & advanced technologies at Saertex, emphasized: “All materials used within the LEO system are perfectly matched to one another to provide our customers with a reliable solution which meets the highest fire protection requirements. As soon as we receive a request, the relevant product components will be provided by Scott Bader and Saertex within a very short time in order to quickly and reliably deliver a complete LEO system to the customer.”
Another advantage of the cooperation: Like Saertex, the sales and support team of Scott Bader in the field of fire protection is globally positioned and, besides Saertex’s application consultants, it provides additional support for the LEO products emerging from the cooperation.
Neil Gray, global market manager FST at Scott Bader, confirmed: “The Saertex LEO system is a unique material system which combines excellent fire protection with the highest mechanical strength for the production of structural fiber composite components. Our new LEO Crestapol 1261PA resin for the LEO system fulfills all previous functionality requirements and even improves the mechanical properties for structural components.”
The fiber-reinforced composite materials with integrated fire protection from the Saertex LEO System are used in the marine market, in the construction industry and in the production of rail vehicles; all of these are areas in which the combination of lightweight design, a high mechanical durability and an good weather resistance is in demand.
The cooperation agreement has been signed on March 13, 2019, at JEC World in Paris, a trade fair for composite materials.
Christoph Geyer, CEO of the Saertex Group, assured: “Existing customers of Saertex LEO also benefit from the new cooperation with Scott Bader. You can rely upon a further optimized support provided by Saertex.”
In addition, the LEO product range is completed by the two new Saertex products LEO Coated Fabric and SAERcore LEO for RTM processes.
