BIELLA, Italy — April 23, 2021 — “The series of video-interviews “Con le mani” has allowed Filo to keep alive contacts with its exhibitors and visitors at a time when physical fairs were impossible. I find it rather symbolic that the round of video ends just when the official news of the reopening of the fairs arrives: the date is July 1 (and June 15, if they are held in “yellow” areas),” said Paolo Monefermoso, general manager of Filo. “Of course, we welcome the reopening of international fairs from July 1: it gives us the opportunity to prepare the 56th edition of Filo, scheduled at MiCo on September 29 and 30, in the best way and with no more uncertainty. As stressed several times, physical fairs are key for the upstream sectors of the textile supply chain because touching a yarn firsthand is crucial to fully appreciate its quality. The physical fair is also an opportunity for entrepreneurs to meet and exchange opinions: in a difficult moment like the current one, it gives greater awareness of the strength of our industry and therefore allows us to look to the future with more confidence.”
Not surprisingly, the final video of “Con le mani” is a celebration of touch, under the significant title of “A matter of touch” (https://filo.it/questione-di-tatto-con-le-mani/). Through the images of the video, Filo has underlined the role that “hands” (and manufacturing) and “touch” have in the textile industry, as confirmed by all the testimonials we met during our interviews.
“However, another element emerges strongly from the interviews – Monfermoso underlines – It is the desire, or rather the need, to stick together, to work as a team. The people interviewed by Filo consider it the only way to face the future, so as not to lose the Made in Italy heritage of know-how, which today is the basis for the restart of the sector. The 56th edition of Filo, in September, will be an opportunity to give concrete evidence of this.”
The 56a edition of Filo will take place on September 29 e 30, 2021 at MiCo-Milano Convention Centre in Milan.
