Polymer Group Inc. (PGI), North Charleston, S.C., has finished installing a Reifenhauser Reico III
multiple-beam spunbond line at its Bonlam operation in Mexico. Commercial production of hygiene
products began at the plant last month.
“The addition of this line will allow us to meet the growing demand for this region and
maintain our position as the industry leader in the hygiene segment in Mexico,” said James L.
Schaeffer, CEO. “This is just one of a number of initiatives the company is pursuing to grow its
franchise in key markets.”
In related company news, PGI has announced plans to build a new facility near Shanghai. The
plant, which will house a state-of-the-art Reifenhauser spunmelt line, will serve medical and
hygiene markets.
“As many of our customers establish production in this region, PGI plans to grow with them,”
Schaeffer said.
