UNION CITY, Ga. — October 11, 2016 — TenCate Protective Fabrics will launch a new family of FR fabrics specially engineered for inclement weather conditions for use in personal protective garments at the 2016 National Safety Congress in Anaheim.
The inaugural launch of the new Forecast™ family of FR fabrics will include two initial offerings for foul weather fabric solutions. TenCate Protective Fabrics has been providing inherently flame-resistant (FR) fabrics to the industrial safety market for over forty years and will focus its expertise on FR fabrics that will stand up to extreme weather conditions while adding new members to the Tecasafe® brand.
Tecasafe® Typhoon3™ is a tri-laminate FR fabric designed for use in rainwear. This fabric will prove to be very valuable for utility workers, linemen and oil & gas workers who have to face less than desirable conditions while working outdoors. With a PPE category 2 rating, Typhoon3TM provides excellent protection from arc flash events. The fabric has been engineered to feel comfortable and stand up to extreme wear and multiple launderings and still retain its like-new appearance and comfortable feel. It will be available in a range of colors that will fit well with the market.
Tecasafe® Tundra1000™ is a double-sided, wool-enhanced fleece that also boasts a high PPE category 2 rating. Tundra1000™ provides warmth along with inherent FR protection for workers who have to face the bitter cold while on the job. Engineered for maximum comfort and protection, Tundra1000 looks and feels as good as any fleece used for every day apparel. NFPA 2112 certified, this fleece offers protection from thermal events that could occur at any job site. Weighing in at 10 ounces per square yard, Tecasafe® Tundra1000 is the right FR solution for adverse weather conditions.
TenCate revolutionized FR solutions for the industrial safety market with Tecasafe® Plus over the past decade. The new Forecast™ fabrics are set to continue that trend.
“The prospects for the new Forecast FR fabrics are looking better than we expected,” said Luke Blakey, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing for TenCate Protective Fabrics. “There’s already been strong enthusiasm from the market and we hope that Forecast will become a cross-market phenomenon and continue the great success of our Tecasafe® brand.”
The new Forecast Fabrics will be on display at NSC in the TenCate Protective Fabrics booth #1529.
