National Retail Federation (NRF) executives David French, senior vice president for Government Relations, and Jonathan Gold, vice president for Supply Chain and Customs Policy, recently returned from a trip to Asia, which included two days in Dhaka, Bangladesh. French and Gold met with the U.S. labor attaché, executives with the Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association,
as well as toured factories and a laboratory while in Dhaka. Post trip, they support the assertion contained in a recent Alliance report that conditions are improving in Bangladesh for factory workers.
“The Alliance is doing important work to ensure the safety of Bangladeshi workers who make clothing worn by millions of Americans and other consumers around the world,” said French. “We saw first-hand … that significant progress has been made to improve conditions at factories in Bangladesh and that work is on track to see more improvements in the future.”
